Preliminary 2023 California Grape Crush Report and NVG's Tools for Grape Sales

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released the Preliminary California Grape Crush Report summarizing annual metrics, including the dollars per ton, number of tons, and brix levels related to each grape transaction across California.

2023 Grape Crush Report Highlights
  • Grapes produced in Napa County received the highest average price across California, up 3.7% from 2022
  • The weighted average price per ton for Napa County Cabernet Sauvignon was $8,774.59, a 1.4% increase from $8,653.03 per ton in 2022 (Table 10)
  • A total of 56,488 tons of Cabernet Sauvignon were reported in 2023, a 20.9% increase over 46,741.8 tons reported in 2022 (Table 8)​
  • The weighted average price per ton for Napa County Chardonnay was $3,537.40, a 4.4% increase over $3,387.85 in 2022 (Table 10)
  • A total of 14,556.1 tons of Chardonnay were reported in 2023, a 27% increase over 11,459 tons in 2022 (Table 8)
