Reports & Research

Reports & Research

The Napa Valley Grapegrowers conducts a variety of surveys and reports with third-party educational institutions and businesses. Our goal is to always produce high-quality, independent and objective products that will support members in farming to the highest standards.

Cost Studies

NVG regularly develops Cost Studies in conjunction with the University of California Cooperative Extension, which assess sample costs to establish and produce winegrapes in the Napa Valley.

Grape Crush Report

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Services Grape Crush Report includes all grape tonnage crushed during the previous year's season.

Growing Conditions Report

The Growing Conditions Report contains maps, tables, and graphs depicting regional Napa climate data and provides a countywide overview of general growing conditions.

Hang Time Study

The Hang Time Study was a trial designed to study the effects of extended ripening (hang time) on yields of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley.  Data were collected during 2005 and 2006.

Napa County Crop Report

The Napa County Agricultural Commissioner’s office publishes its annual agricultural report in April, which summarizes the value of agricultural production in the county and highlights trends such as sustainable practices and other local initiatives.  All NVG Member receive a copy.

Vineyard Trail

NVG partnered with Dr. Cristina Lazcano, PhD, UC Davis, and a team of California Soil Scientists to develop a vineyard trial studying soil health and the potential for carbon sequestration in Napa Valley soils.  We are thrilled to announce the project was funded through the American Vineyard Foundation and will begin this year.

Wages & Benefits Survey

The Napa Valley Wages & Benefits Survey gathers information on vineyard labor practices and compensation annually. Survey results are re-distributed to all participating grower and vineyard managers to be used as a tool to effectively compensate their vineyard workers.
