The Background: |
What's New: |
NVG's ROOTSTOCK has been around for more than 17 years. It started as the "Vit Fair" tradeshow, evolved to the "Wine & Grape Expo," and then became what it is today, an end-of-harvest educational conference. This event gives us the chance to connect with industry colleagues and friends, hear from experts in the field, get the latest industry research, and raise a glass to the current vintage.
However, we want to do more. NVG strives to always meet the changing needs of the industry. With so many issues facing growers these days, it is hard to cover them all under one event. So, this year's ROOTSTOCK will once again evolve... |
This year, we are going to focus on a central theme:
weed management in the vineyard. Weed management is an integral part of the vineyard management system; however, as consumers' and lenders' perceptions around herbicides shift, there is mounting pressure across the wine production chain to adapt farming methods. And, as Napa Valley growers continue to strive for viticultural excellence, employing innovative practices is paramount to continuing to increase quality and sustainability in our vineyards. Speakers will examine the current trends and public perception in herbicide use, laws and regulations for pesticides, DPR's sustainable pest management plan for California, innovative approaches to weed management, and practical approaches to developing a farming strategy that centers on long-term sustainability and healthy, resilient ecosystems. |
