Industry Issues

Industry Issues

The farmer has to be an optimist or he wouldn't still be a farmer.
We often find ourselves with challenges in front of us, causing plans and expectations to take a back seat to life’s twists and turns. But it only takes one glance outside to remind ourselves that the vines continue to grow. Their strength in the face of drought, fires, frost, pests, and a pandemic is a lesson in resilience.

Just as the vines are resilient, so are we. The Napa Valley Grapegrowers will always provide growers with powerful information and resources.  We remain committed to advocacy, tirelessly pushing for the preservation of agriculture in Napa Valley, no matter what we face.

With leadership from NVG's Industry Issues Committee, the organization actively engages throughout the year in a multitude of industry issues including but not limited to:
  • Ag preservation & supportive land use policy
  • Best practices programs
  • Pest & disease issues
  • Farm planning & costs of grapegrowing
  • Assessment district activities
  • Policies impacting farming operations
  • Policies impacting Napa’s workforce
  • Premium winegrape access & clean plant material
  • New technology & opportunities
  • Community housing solutions
  • Climate change & extreme weather
  • Sustainability goals
  • Protection of the Napa name
NVG is committed to preserving and promoting Napa Valley vineyards, which to us means protecting Napa County agriculture for future generations, farming for quality and with a deep respect for land, and actively working to maintain our County's agricultural heritage.
