Sales Donation Program
As a non-profit organization, the Napa Valley Grapegrowers relies on donations, sponsorships, grants, and membership dues for its operating expenses. Every dollar that we receive from our generous community is used to fulfill our mission: To cultivate viticultural excellence and environmental stewardship in Napa Valley.
Please consider implementing one of the following programs to raise funds for the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. It’s a win-win: you support a crucial non-profit organization in exchange for promotion among our robust member and donor communications, including emails and social media posts.

Please consider implementing one of the following programs to raise funds for the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. It’s a win-win: you support a crucial non-profit organization in exchange for promotion among our robust member and donor communications, including emails and social media posts.

- Let your customers make a donation during checkout
- Donate a portion of sales from a single or multiple SKUs
- Donate a portion of sales from a wine club shipment
- Donate a portion of your tasting room fee
- Meet your 1% for the Planet donation commitment
- Use a donation as a thank-you gift for your customers
- Donate a portion of grape sales
- Donate corkage fees
- Let your customers make a donation during checkout
- Add a section to your ecommerce check out-page that allows customers to make a donation during checkout online
- Allow customers to donate a static amount, a percentage of to their purchase or round up to donate the difference
- Designate a single SKU or multiple wines and assign a percentage of sales as a donation (ongoing or over a set period of time, such as National Agriculture Month)
- Determine a percentage of sales—from a wine club shipment or event ticket sales
- Promote the program to your club members in a pre-shipment email and encourage additional sales!
- Send a “last call” reminder before the shipment is finalized and link to a video of your vineyard manager and our executive director making an emotional appeal about the importance of agriculture in Napa Valley
- Determine the dates of the program, such as a holiday program or in March for National Agriculture Month
Example: Plumpjack Winery created a special promotion around Hispanic Heritage Month for the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation that was promoted in its tasting room and via social media, including a special video created just for this promotion
- Use the funds you’ve committed to 1% for the Planet to make a donation or become a sponsor
Example: Paradigm Winery uses its 1% for the Planet funds to sponsor the Napa Valley Grapegrowers each year.
- Consider a donation as a thank you gift for your loyal customers.
Example: During a recent wine club-member survey, to thank them for their time, Domaine Carneros offered members the option of a $5 coffee gift card or to make a donation on their behalf to the nonprofit of their choice.
Select a percentage of your grape sales to dedicate to the Napa Valley Grapegrowers and spread the word to the wineries and winemakers who by your grapes
- Designate part or all of your corkage fees to be donated to the Napa Valley Grapegrowers
Example: Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch has taken a distinctive approach to restaurant corkage protocol through our “Corkage for Community” program. Instead of the typical $20+ corkage fee charged for opening a bottle of wine brought to a restaurant, Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch collects a $10 fee for every guest’s bottle. This unusually low corkage fee is donated to a different community-based not-for-profit organization each month. Since Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch first opened its doors, more than $200,000 has been donated to community-based not-for-profit organizations with this program.

- Create a shelf-talker for retailers
- Promote among your staff with talking points provided by the Napa Valley Grapegrowers
- Promote in email campaigns with dedicated messaging and/or a banner in all emails with a link to page on ecommerce
- Create a landing page on your website with a message about the partnership and how the proceeds from the sales will be used
- Send a special note to customers who have purchased the designated wines in the past
